I'm a creative and academic from Manchester who is passionate about music, black youth culture, and creating/assisting in opportunities for musicians. I've focused a lot of my academic work on UK rap culture, and black British culture, exploring the censorship of grime, how censorship attempts are being mirrored with drill music, along with the differences between the north and south. I worked as a researcher on a project called ‘Prosecuting Rap’, for a year which explores how rappers have their lyrics used against them and how black youth culture is used in the courtroom. Creatively I worked for a year with ONEWAYTV which is a music Youtube channel based in Manchester. For Oneway, I worked as a photographer, did behind the scenes editing and assisted on shoots. Because a lot of my work experiences in both fields revolved around music, I developed various interests & skills in managing talent. I've assisted with live music agency 'Earth Agency' in a project which involved recruiting participants for a brunch, aimed at helping black people who were interested in becoming live agents or managers. I’m really passionate about opportunities that can help northern artists and creatives because I feel we’re overlooked.
