Loathe formed in 2014 in Liverpool, UK. In the same year, we wrote our first EP ‘Prepare Consume Proceed' which we released ourselves, while also filming our first music video for the track ‘In Death’. On the strength of the music video, we were signed to noted American record label ’SharpTone Records’ on a 4 album deal, which led to us touring across the UK and making a name for ourselves, before being invited to perform in America at the prestigious ‘Knotfest’ in 2016, which was curated by scene legends Slipknot.
We followed this up by touring Europe for the first time while writing our first full-length album ‘The Cold Sun’, which was very well received and gave us the opportunity to support bigger bands in the scene on tours in the UK, EU and our first full US tour. In 2019 we were invited to tour China and Japan, as well as continuing to grow our profile across the UK and EU with relentless touring and festival appearances at Download Festival, Slam Dunk, 2000 Trees and more.
In 2020, after signing a publishing deal with BMG, we released our second album ‘I Let it In And It Took Everything’ on February 7th, followed by our largest ever UK headlining tour. Unfortunately, with scheduled tours in the UK, American, Australia, Europe and Asia in the book, COVID restrictions curtailed all further performances for the year of 2020.
Regardless of this, our band experienced exponential growth through the pandemic, with ‘I Let It In And It Took Everything’ being named in the best albums of 2020 by multiple publications, including Kerrang!, Rock Sound and Metal Hammer in the UK; as well as Revolver and Alternative Press in the USA, with esteemed American website Loudwire naming it the best metal album of 2020.
In December, we were given the front cover of Kerrang! Magazine, which is the world’s largest weekly rock magazine.
In just over a year, our new album has been streamed over a million times on Spotify alone. "
